THIS IS VERY LATE BUT UH.

Once upon a time, a little boy ran away from the place that might or might not have made him. He took the right fork at a crossroad (no, not the crossroad of Fate, just an ordinary one), and ran straight into an old man with a kind smile and gentle eyes.

The old man squatted down and placed a hand on a black-haired head. He looked into those dark, coal-black eyes, filled with determination that a child should not have. He looked at the proud nose, the set mouth, and a seed grew in his mind. He spoke thus:

"Boy, what are you running from?"

The boy glared at him, his will too large for his body as he stumbled back onto his feet. He gave the old man a glare, and it would almost be intimidating if his eyes weren't so very large. Brushing himself down, the boy said, "None of your business," and ran away like a spirit of the wind.

The old man watched him run away, a pensive look in his slate-grey eyes. "What an interesting child," he murmured to himself.

It was a year after that the old man met that boy again. The boy was running, tripping on his own two feet and petals-red blood was blooming on his arms. Fire framed his footsteps, like he was wearing those winged sandals of Hermes, and he bumped into the old man again.

The old man gave him a benevolent smile, edges razor-sharp. "Come with me," he told the little boy. "I won't ever try to tame you, because your eyes told me you aren't one to be leashed. No, I’ll let you be free. So now come with me, boy.

"I'll teach you the ways of a king."

IT IS FAIL OK /SOBS
