Ha! I could totally see Bruce doing that just to mess with Dick at some point by slapping a button at one of his corny puns and giving him a laugh or a rimshot. :D
It wasn’t just that he would gladly die for this man—anyone in the world had that privilege. They were both heroes, after all—giving their lives for the innocent, for those who needed to be saved, was part of the job.
I love this line because it captures all of the strange emotional difficulties of writing superheroes, in which the cliche phrase of being willing to die for your lover means nothing because they're willing to die every day for everyone. I love how that pushes writers to find different ways of framing their devotion, like you do so well here.
