1. Sometimes he wonders why he even bothers with that charade of 'benefits' and 'ego' when everyone in the Host Club seems to be able to see right through it.

2. But then it's a little too difficult for him to not act that way, given how used he is to it. Plus there are other people outside of the Host Club who still will be fooled by the act, and so it will have some benefit to him still-

4. Tamaki is the first person he has ever referred to as a friend. Everyone else before that are simply acquaintances or future working partners. But Tamaki blew that all away, wormed himself into Kyouya's mind and heart, and declared himself to be Kyouya's 'mon ami' from day one.

5. He has never really forgiven Tamaki for that. But at the same time, he has never really felt that he has thanked him enough for it either.
